Trip to Ooty

When I arrived in Coimbatore, one and only thought I had was to visit Ooty and of course I went there. so here is a small description. We took taxi from Coimatore to Ooty (80 km to Coimbatore) and choose the way to Ooty via Coonoor; While coming back choose another route Ooty to Kotagiri and then Coimbatore.

I enjoyed both the routes but more biased towards Kotagiri route as it provides me lots of wildlife sightings and the cloudy weather. I had this small vacation after 5 months of hard work after completing my PhD; so I gasp every second of my journey. My views for Ooty are:

Ooty another name of 'Udhagamandalam' is famous for tea plantation, home made chocolate and breath taking views. It is one of the most popular tourist resorts in southern India. Nilgiris or "Blue Mountains" is a land of picturesque picnic spots. It is situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level.

A marvellous package of vegetation is found in this area starting from Coonoor to Ooty to Kotagiri. Lofty mountains, dense forest, grasslands and miles & miles of tea plantations attracts the passengers.

Places of Interests

Botanical garden: Very well maintained lawns of the numerous of species of flowers and plants but the main attraction of the garden is fossilised tree trunk, which are approx 20 million years old.

Rose Garden: A beautiful land atop the hill, the Rose Garden welcome its guests with its more than 1900 variety of roses. Beautiful path, trimmed lawn and others flowers enhance the beauty of the place. One of the highlight of the park is the rose sculpted pathway, which in my view is rather unique.

Dodda Betta: It is the highest peak in the Nilgiri Hills. And one can have the enchanting view of entire city and places surround.

Ooty Lake: This artificial lake, built approx 200 years ago, is surrounded by light vegetation and small hills, boating is easily available.

Museum: Chocolate and Tea museum are super engaging, person should visit both or either of them, to learn more about the strength of the Ooty city.

An added attraction for the tourists is the mountain train journey, commences from Kallar, near Mettupalayam and make its way through many curves. We took the Taxi so this information is based on others opinion.

Don't forget to buy the homemade chocolates, they may range from 100 to 350 for 250 grams and comes in all the flavours, from dark to milk one. Purchase a packet of Tea too, it turned out to be my best decision... :)

I'll update more about PhD and other things, till then take care and thanks for reading :) I wrote this post in a hurry so ask anything in comments, if I missed to write here..

December Shopping Haul

December is my favorite month, the nipping temperature and cool wind develop a child within me.. I love walking in a foggy morning and drinking coffee in the dusky cloudy evening.. but top it all I love hanging around in malls and grasp all the winter wonderland decoration..

People who have been following my blog will know that a small shopping spree in December is already done.. (to read the posts, visit: Welcome December and New Year's Party)

Winter is the season of choices, from fabrics to colors. I wish I can enjoy this sparkling season more but as I m going away to the sunny grounds of Coimbatore city, I want to share more about the sequence of packing and shopping and stuff..

I heard that the minimum temperature is about 16-18 degree in Coimbatore and I m going for 15 days so I have to pack accordingly. I purchase this maroon color suitcase of American Tourister (77cm size) which is perfect for my luggage and the nicest thing about the case is that it comes in the light luggage series and it weigh too low that with all the stuff packed in anyone can pull it easily.

Now the clothes I splashed out these days for the trip include two tops which I purchased from Shoppers Stop. The first one is actually in the teal color which is not visible in the picture due to camera flash but the color is super cute and the small silver stars around the neck lining is like cherry on the top. The black top (yes I have almost 8 tops in the same color but of course with the different pattern) is quite unique. It feels like semi-wool and the design is.. what to say its a criss cross pattern with the white woolly thread is quite appealing :)

And the jacket; with the fake fur inner side, the jacket is in grey color with blue and red detailings. It comes with the hoody and two pockets with zippers which is good to hold a small purse or mobile. I'll use it more when I'll be back..

The next thing I want to share is the Fastrack bag which is particularly bought for the Coimbatore trip. The bag is super awesome with so many partitions and cool carry on strap. The charcoal grey and brown bag is nothing like any common girly bag, it is rough and tough and that's what I want for this trip, a bag that can last in the jungle (as there will be so much tracking in the Nilgiri bioreserve park.)

I also purchased these two items recently, first is the Palmolive Thermal Spa Firming Shower Gel looked pretty with that teal color (yes I m very much in love with teal color and have may be 10-12 products from clothes to soaps in the same color), I like the fact that the fragrance lasts for a longer time.. what I very much needed after my gymming sessions.

The second item is Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume. What a refreshing, sophisticated yet soft scent! All in all, it is a pure delight! Advice for my readers go for the lighter scents and if any of you had used/is using the same, give me your updates below in the comments.

Last but not the least I purchased these Vega brushes range after I broke my favorite hair brush last week. I don't know which is going to work best for me so I m going to try each of them and will share the review later.

So this is pretty much it and will see you guys soon with new posts, till then take care and have a very Merry Christmas :) and Happy New Year :)

Great Love Stories.. 'Laila Majnu'

Today I'm going to start a series post of love stories of great zeal being told in India since forever. Some of the characters are part of India and some of them belong to the neighbour nations. Whatever the condition is, one thing is too sure, that these love stories are full of passion, sacrifices and dedication. The stories made us realize the facets of love. Stories which have successfully withstood the test of time. Stories which made us cry and proud, stories which gave us strength and made us weak at the same time.. Stories like....

Layla and Majnun or Laila Majnu

Gist for quick readers: The story of Laila and Majnu was originally depict in the poetry written by medieval Iranian poet, Nizami of GanjeThe story goes like this- Laila and Qays were childhood friends and they fell for each other while studying at the school. Their love affair soon came into open to attract the rage of their families. Both families restricted the young lovers to see each others. Disappointed, Qays banished himself in the desert and find comfort in the company of animals. His eccentric behavior had earned him the name of Majnu, which means madman. Such selfless was their love that they did not hesitate for even a minute when it came to laying down their lives for each other. Even today, people know them as Laila Majnu; the "and" in between is missing.

Love Story of Laila Majnu
Laila and Majnu is an eternal love story that has a tragic end. These two young lovers sacrificed their love for each other, their love story remained incomplete in the midst of feuding clans. Although it is of Iranian origin, the story of Laila and Majnu is immensely popular in India. It has been told many times and various versions of the story are still being told at different parts of India. The star-crossed lovers immortalized their feeling of love for each other by giving away their lives in the name of love. Their agony is felt by many in their hearts even today, when the heart-rending saga of Laila and Majnu is narrated to them. The story of Laila-Majnu has several variations. In India, it is believed that Laila and Majnu breathed their last in a village in Rajasthan, where they took refuge. Their graves are believed to be located in Bijnore village, near Anupgarh in the Sriganganagar district. A rural legend in the area holds that Laila and Majnu originally belonged to Sindh, from where they escaped to these parts of India and finally, died in the Indian territory.

Story says Laila Al-Aamiriya was a beautiful girl born in a rich family. Being no less than a princess, she was expected to marry a wealthy boy and live in grandeur and splendor. But as they say, love thinks from the heart and she fell in love with Qays ibn al-Mulawwah, a poor lad. Their passionate love for each other knew no bounds and no logic. They met in school for the first time. Majnu is captivated by Laila’s beauty and falls in love in her. He was sure of this love on the very first day he laid his eyes upon her at maktab (traditional school).  He soon began to write beautiful love poems about Laila and he would read them out loud on street corners to anybody who would care to listen.  Such passionate displays of love and devotion caused many to refer to the boy as Majnu, meaning madman. He is beaten by the schoolteacher for being more attentive to Laila than studies.

As their families learn about this, the lovers were banished from seeing each other. However, they meet when they grow young. One day, Majnu found the courage to ask Laila’s father for his daughter’s hand in marriage, but her father refused the request due to social boundaries. Laila is married off to some other man. Majnu was overcome with grief and abandoned his home and family and disappeared into the wilderness where he lived a miserable life of solitude among the wild animals. She couldn't bear the separation either and committed suicide. He immediately travelled to the place where Layla had been buried and there he wept and wept until he too surrendered to the impossible grief and died at the graveside of his one true love.

‘I pass by these walls, the walls of Laila
And kiss this wall and that wall.
It’s not love of the houses that has taken my heart
but of the One who dwells in those houses.’

Translated poetry

Another variation of the romantic tale of In other versions It is said that Laila and Majnu were in deep love, but Laila’s brother and parents were not in favour of this relationship and Laila did not want to part with Majnu and her family was not supporting their relationship, therefore Laila and Majnu ran away from Sindh and settled in Binjor (India). And after some time both of them died there. People of Binjor buried both Laila and Majnu there itself and made a tomb there. Couple visit this tomb and seek blessings for their love life from Laila and Majnu.

New Year's Party

Planning a party for new year lets plan a party together.. I wont be celebrating new year with my family this year.. (work and stuff) but this post was planned from so many days so lets done with it..

So how do you plan to celebrate the New Year? Big, small, or somewhere in between? Whether you're planning a small New Years get-together with just a few members of the family or a blowout New Years Eve party for all the gang. Choose everything according to the mood of guest.

THEME: Choose an elegant silver and blue theme if you want to celebrate with family.. you can also combine green for additional fun.. choose black and gold New Years party theme, for office people and group of officials.. an informal and colorful New Years Eve design can be use for kids and teenagers.

FOOD: Always remember to have mixed flavours for a large group, in case of family gatherings use potluck system, that will bring harmony in family and everyone have the chance to appreciate other's cooking skills as well.. What else to say, you all know what you want to have :)

Read this yummy recipe at The Spade & Spoons.. Hope you all gonna try this, atleast I will :)

Decoration: I say keep it simple but sparkly, if you are using colors than put the white or light gray background and colorful threads or pearls or little bit glitter for detailing..

You don't have to have a huge party to celebrate New Year’s Eve. The fact is that it should really be your closest, dearest friends. Keep the gathering small to avoid excessive havoc.

I have purchased few gifts already, though I can't share them with all as I want them to be a suprise for people I want to give and few of them read my blog so..  but I want to share my December quick shopping with all..

Recently I start using Tresemme (Keratin Smooth) and the results are mind blowing.. I absolutely love it.. I never use shampoos with much fragrance and this one is just custom made for me..

The Kurta is from Fab India, I just love their fittings and colors, the kurtas, tops, tunics everything is so figure flattering, the candles are from candlekart's.. I always shop candles online and never have to regret for anything, they have the most unique and super cute decorative candles..

Baggit's, magenta sling bag.. Perfect combination, perfect color, I have burgundy and black baggit hand bag but its just not sufficient for me. The size of this is perfect for day today work.. I gonna use it everyday if only I could :)

Welcome December..

Hello to all my lovely readers.. Happy December.. a month which brings so much happiness in my thoughts.. festivity all around and lots of shopping :) Today I'm going to cover many topics together..

First of all a quick update about a small shopping haul on the very first day of the the December. These are the products I purchased (in last post, people asked me to update product range as well but I prefer not to but if anyone have any query you can contact me via mugdhasinghblogging@gmail.com or via Facebook page Mugdha Says)

Absolutely love these kurties.. for 2 reasons, the black one is very plain and elegant.. with small button details and can paired with jeans easily. The other one is black as well but the Rajasthani print and border make it a little bit formal.. I can wear it in college or at luncheon with family.. 2 in 1 kind of piece I would say..

Now if you are following my previous blog posts, you can guess the purpose of these shoes. Yes these are my workout shoes, super cute (I think I'm obsessed with blue colour these days, 3 pair of shoes in a week, all in blue shade :) )

Ok so I have many Maybelline products but this is the first time I m using their lip balm and my rating is A 1 :) a big yes from my side.. Revlon is suggested by a friend.. never used before.. I have VOV kajal, so lets see how it goes.. will get back to that soon. O3+ is the best best best cream I have so far, its so nice to use it, non sticky, it settled with my skin so nicely (for the record I have oily skin and it works well for me).. too good to use..

Ahh haan.. these are the books I have purchased 2 days ago.. my December going to be fabulous.. lot to read :) before putting them in my shelves, wanted to share with all of you :)

There is a small update about decor.. we are planning to repaint the house.. and I'm so confused for my room.. let me share the shades I m confused between and all shades are from Berger Paints
